We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Public Health Nurse to join our dedicated team at HMP Altcourse, a Category B prison located in the Fazakerley area of Liverpool.
This is a rotational RGN role within a busy remand prison environment. You’ll play a vital part in our healthcare service, taking on responsibilities such as medication administration, triage, and emergency care, alongside your work as a Public Health Nurse. This role provides exposure to a wide range of healthcare areas and offers the chance to make a meaningful impact every day.
Hours
- Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
- Rotational shifts including weekends, nights, and bank holidays
- Example shifts: 07:00–20:00, 08:00–21:00, 09:00–22:00, 19:45–07:30
Salary
- Up to £40,211 per annum FTE (dependent on experience)

Main Duties of the Job
As a Public Health Nurse, you’ll take on a variety of responsibilities, including:
- Working across Public Health, triage, and medication administration
- Leading prevention, promotion, and protection initiatives within the prison community
- Delivering health promotion activities, proactive clinics, and awareness campaigns
- Providing health promotion and disease prevention advice
- Conducting IPC audits and delivering on-site training
- Supporting the delivery of national screening programmes, health checks, and consistent public health reporting
