About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Barnsley Council’s award winning 0 to 19 Public Health Nursing Service, rated Outstanding by the CQC. Our service is dedicated to placing local people at the heart of everything we do.

As a Public Health Nurse, you will:

  • Support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme across Barnsley
  • Work closely with health visiting and school nursing teams
  • Deliver targeted interventions, health promotion, and public health activities
  • Carry out detailed individual and community health assessments, identifying risks and needs
  • Contribute to improving outcomes for children, young people, families, and communities

About You

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic professionals who are passionate about public health. To apply, you must be:

  • A first level Registered Nurse (RNA, RNMH, RNC, RNLD) or Midwife, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Experienced in areas such as mental health, sexual health, community health, or working with children and families
  • Able to plan and prioritise your workload effectively
  • Willing to travel across different venues and community settings

You should be a strong team player, adaptable, and creative in your approach to challenges.
