Role: Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – School Nursing
Qualified nurses are invited to apply for the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nursing) training programme for the academic year 2025/26.
This is a full time programme only, lasting 52 weeks. Of these, 45 weeks will be spent in education and clinical practice within the Trust. The course will take place at the University of Greenwich and will begin in January 2025.
While training, you will receive a salary up to point 3 on the Agenda for Change Band 5 scale, as directed by Health Education England.
About the Role
School Nurses play a vital role in leading and delivering the Healthy Child Programme (5 to 19 years, Department of Health 2009). They supervise skill mix teams and work closely with local service providers to develop and support services for children and families within schools and the community.
Responsibilities include health assessments for child sexual exploitation, mental health and safeguarding, and working with local agencies and professionals to support children and young people.

Placement and Training
During the course you will be based at one of our youth hubs. You will have a nominated Practice Supervisor and a Practice Assessor overseeing your placement and study. Training will also include practice within Young Greenwich School Nursing.

Young Greenwich is an integrated programme commissioned by the Royal Borough of Greenwich. It helps young people develop holistically by supporting their personal, social and educational goals.
